Join us on June 5 -7th, 2015 for an immersive weekend exploring the most essential aspects of being a photographer: creating work with intention, initiating and maintaining industry relationships, developing professional practices, and learning to recognize your best work as a photographer. Led by two internationally recognized and practicing artists, scott b. davis and Aline Smithson, the Photo Fix Retreat gives participants unparalleled insight into the field of fine art photography today with more than 40 years of practical experience shared in an open and supportive environment. Focused around one on one interactions and group conversations, the retreat is designed to give personalized advice on each photographer’s unique career, goals, and talent. Participants will leave with resources to take their work to the next level of creative, conceptual, and professional possibility, while experiencing a transformative understanding of what it takes to be a photographic artist today.
The Photo Fix Retreat is held in a peaceful Buddhist monastery high in the San Jacinto mountains. Retreat accommodations are minimal and all participants should receive an outline of the accommodations prior to registration by emailing scott b. davis in advance.
During this retreat we will:
• Develop your photographic ideas and understanding of the medium
• Stop to reflect on your own photographs, intentions, and goals as a photographer
• Fix your sights with renewed focus and direction to move your career forward.
The Photo Fix Retreat includes all meals and lodging in a beautiful setting for considering and creating photographs, reserving time for introspection, while networking with a focused group of fellow artists. It is a participatory experience designed for committed photographers who have a developed body of photographs and are looking to take their work to the next level. Participants will be encouraged to take an active role in weekend conversations, help foster creative thought to expand each photographer’s conceptual and creative practice, and also build community.
