The Big Picture: Creating Meaningful Work and Presenting it to the Fine Art Market at the Maine Media Worshops

The Big Picture: Creating Meaningful Work and Presenting it to the Fine Art Market
August 20 -26th, 2017

Throughout this five-day workshop, Aline will present current trends and genres in fine art photography that will help spark new ideas and inspire you to not simply take photographs, but to conceive projects based on your ideas, personal experiences, and the world around you. Participants will garner a deeper understanding of the Fine Art Market and learn best practices for presenting work. Students learn construct bios, write artist and project statements, and resumes. We will explore photography competitions and learn how to prepare work for exhibition. Information about portfolio reviews and exhibition proposals are also covered. Projects of new and established fine art photographers are studied so that participants will understand what makes a successful series. Aline will also explain editioning and pricing of work. Though much of the workshop will be in the classroom, we will set aside time to create new work.

The workshop is taught from the perspective of a working photographer. Participants will learn from Aline’s unusual perspective of sitting on both sides of the reviewing table. New work will be encouraged through class assignments and she will make time for one-on-one sessions with all the participants, where portfolios can be shaped and edited. Come join us for a week of inspiration, motivation, and self-discovery in a warm and supportive environment.
