I am very excited to be teaching at the Maine Media Workshops this summer. I will be teaching a week long workshop, Taking the Next Step in Fine Art Photography from August 9th – August 15th, 2015.
To succeed in the fine art photography world, it’s not just about making terrific photographs. Today, photographers need to be articulate about their work, be professional in the way they package themselves and their projects, and make smart decisions about moving projects into the fine art arena.
Throughout this five-day workshop, participants will set goals, learn how to build and write a résumé, how to construct a bio, and how to title and write personal statements about their work. We will explore photography competitions and learn how to prepare work for exhibition. Information about portfolio reviews and exhibition proposals are also covered. Projects of new and established fine art photographers are studied so that participants will understand what makes a successful series. Aline will also present current trends and genres in fine art photography that will help spark new ideas for creating a personal photographic series.
The workshop is taught from the perspective of a working photographer. You will learn from Aline’s mistakes and successes and her unusual perspective of sitting on both sides of the reviewing table. New work will be encouraged through class assignments and Aline will make time for one-on-one sessions with all the participants, where portfolios can be shaped and edited. Come join us for a week of inspiration, motivation, and self-discovery!
