Self Portraits

Self-Portraits

I hate self-portraits. Let me clarify that. I hate self-portraits of me. One of the reasons I became a photographer is so that I could stand behind a black box and stay in a dark room all day. That said, I needed to produce self portrait and once I realized I could narrate my life without lowering the camera, one portrait turned into two and so on.
Each of these self-portraits conveys one part of my life—a moment, a routine, my humor, my fears, my fun. Because I just show the feet, the viewer is able to project him/herself into the situation and create their own narratives. It’s a way to tell my story and expose a little more of my self.
