I’m Coming Home
I grew up in California and have always appreciated it’s beauty, much of it seen from a car window or at a scenic vista point, as each summer, my parents would pack up the station wagon for a month long west coast tour. In reality, most of my time was spent in the back seat sparing with my sister, looking for out-of-state license plates, foraging for candy, and much of what passed across my window screen was simply the visual noise of a family road trip.
I moved to New York City right out of college and many years later, when I returned to California, I was not ready to re-embrace a state that I claimed I would never live in again. But now what I see out the car window is humbling in it’s magnificence and as I travel throughout this visually diverse state, I feel a renewed deep love for this slice of the planet and I realized that finally, I’m coming home.
