HOLDING STARDUST

As a photographer, I explore a variety of subjects, styles, and processes, but the one consistent element in my photographic journey has been my daughter, Charlotte.

This series of photographs titled Daughter, reflect not only my journey, but my daughter’s journey from child to adolescent to adulthood. Charlotte has been my muse and photographic partner for close fifteen years. She has allowed me to experiment, try different cameras and techniques, and explore the idea of portraiture. Her willingness to participate in my work has been immeasurable. I am so grateful to have a photographic record of the time we have spent together, and I feel as if this work not only speaks to being a mother and a photographer, but to Charlotte’s character and sense of self. There has never been a moment of falseness to her pose or gesture and I have always felt a magical connection to her through the lens. This collaboration has allowed me to see into her soul, to explore her physical self, and to celebrate a deep love we have for each other.
